The Masters in International Business degree focuses on the global economy. In a sense, it is a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a heavy emphasis on multinationality in business. Typically, you are taught things such as business strategy, international relations, intercultural communication, leadership, finance, marketing, and management. Some programs also let you earn an official MBA after a certain amount of work experience, depending on the university you attend to earn your master’s degree. Business Owner

Many people with an international business degree often go into business themselves. Their experience learned from their education lets them work not only in their native country, but also have a base of operations abroad. Running a business across borders can give you a new perspective on doing business itself, and also open you to new opportunities as well. Plus, you can help boost the economy of a nation by doing so. However, keep in mind that this is a very challenging option, however – so it takes a lot of hard work and a little luck to survive in the business word. Do your research if you decide to go into business for yourself, researching the best industries and location, and ensuring that you understand multicultural communications and international business laws.

Business Relations

If starting your own business doesn’t feel right for you, you can instead put your experience for use with someone else as a consultant. Many businesses want to go overseas, either to find new customers or negotiate better deals. You can help them be represented in a foreign country, and secure negotiations for new locations or a better supply deal; often manufacturing can be done for cheaper in another country, and you can help arrange that.

Management

Similar to consulting, many graduates also manage or participate with groups of people as a project manager. As the person experienced in international relations, you’d be managing a team of people dealing with another country. Examples of this include representing technical support agents from another country, and leading foreign employees in working for a retail store you just opened. Note that for this job, you may wish to learn the native language of the country where you want to work.
